Weird and Wondeful
At the beginning of this project we were asked to chose between a number of options to base our project on for this topic. This list included topics such as:
· Dreams or nightmares
· Surrealism
· Magic
· Fairy tales
· Superhero powers
I chose to base my project on SURREALISM because upon researching on the topics i found that in a way, surrealism can be a mix of all of the topics, expanding the range and possibilities of photographs i can take. Also i was stunned looking at some of the photographs as they were so unique and extraordinary, and it made me want to give it a go.

Ronen Goldman
Ronen Goldman is an artist and conceptual photographer, who was born in California but now currently lives in Israel. He uses Photoshop to create images which have the power to mess with any man's brain. He claims to photograph the kind of illusions that you could see only in your dreams, if not his photos. Ronen’s work has been featured in art fairs in London, Brussels, Spain, Germany and also has a social documentary which is part of the ‘World Press Photo’ Exhibition held at the Eretz Israel Museum In Tel Aviv.
Examples of Ronen's work :
Ronen's work appeals to me simply because they are extraordinary, unique and most of the time are humorous. A lot of his work have hidden meanings and jokes to make them appealing. He mixes together the reality of real life with the surrealism of the impossible to make some very eye catching projects that seem almost flawless.
Shoot 1
This shoot was more of a practice shoot. I wanted to enhance my skills at using Photoshop so I decided I would do a shoot that would require less photography and more editing. However it was difficult as I could not take any pictures of the sea, goldfish, table and city so I had to use pictures i found on the internet. This would be something I would change if I were to do it again. I took a photograph of my classmate with his hands in the air as if he were against glass. Then I used Photoshop to put all the pictures together and make him look small. I put him in the fish bowl and used a picture of a snow globe to provide the city in the background. The purpose of this photograph was to show a role reversal between fish and human as the human is being kept as a pet of the fish.
Shoot 2
For this shoot I had my classmate stand with his hands in the air in one shot and standing as if he were holding something my the brink on the other. I used Photoshop to make the first image look smaller so that it looked like the first image was holding it. The scene of which is taking place is undoubtedly surreal. This was one of my favorite shoots because it was unique and a lot of fun to shoot and edit.
shoot 3
This was my final shoot for my weird and wonderful shoot. I wanted this one to stand out from the others so I decided to base my project on the superpowers theme. I took a clear photo of an empty, bent can of coca cola and a photo of my classmate throwing a punch from distance. I used Photoshop to make him look smaller and made it look like he had used superhuman strength to bend the giant can with a single punch. I also used a comic book style 'POW!' that i found on the internet to add to the superhero theme. If I were to re-do this shoot I would take more time on cutting out the person as he looks a bit edgy. Also I should have added a shadow to the person as the can has one.
