Camera Basics
Aperture = When you adjust your aperture settings, you'll see the shutter get bigger or smaller. The larger the aperture, the more light you let in with each exposure. The smaller the aperture, the less light you let in. Narrowing the aperture means more of the photograph will appear to be in focus. For example, a smaller aperture is great for landscapes. A larger aperture means less of the photograph will be in focus.
Shutter Speed = When you press the shutter button on your camera and take a picture, the shutters take a specific amount of time to close. This amount of time is known as your shutter speed. When you increase your shutter speed, the length of time where the sensor is exposed to light, the sensor is exposed to more light because it's been given more time. This is useful in dark places. Also, the sensor is subject to more motion which causes motion blur.
Focus Point = When you change the focus point on your camera, you are focusing on a certain area of the photo and will generally make the rest of the photo unfocused and create blur, whereas the area being focused will be in high definition. This is useful when taking pictures of small things or picking something out of a scene, like a shell on a beach.
