Repetition Photography
Marurizio Galimberti
Marurizio Galimberti is an Italian born photographer who creates collages using Polaroid film cameras. By shooting and arranging the photographs into grids, Galimberti gives the viewer a multiple dimensional perspective of each subject. Galimberti considers himself as 'an artist with a camera'. He has worked with many celebrities such as George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and more.

Examples of Galimberti's work:
I like Marurizio Galimberti's work because it is unique and he sticks to the same pattern in every photograph. He also uses celebrities as his models which makes his work more appealing in pop culture. It is extraordinary how he sets out his collages and captures different emotions in each photo. He uses several different photographs of the same person at different angles and brings them together to create one big collage. His work stands out to people because it is so unique, no one has ever done anything like this before. Hence why so many celebrities were so eager to be involved.
Peter de Lory
Examples of De Lory's work:
Peter De Lory's work is very fascinating to observe. In much of his work he uses approximately 2-3 photographs to create a small collage of the same subject, or the same object from a range of angles or effects. Also he done some work on taking photographs of things as they change, such as plants or objects. I like how in each of his collages, even though it shows very little, it gives you a good picture of how it must feel to be in that environment. For example in the collage of the west american house it shows the front of the house, an american flag and a cowboy style car. I also like his pictures of objects being in the wrong place, such as the bottle in the desert, as it makes the object stand out and it makes you see the object as you never usually would. He also uses a black and white effect on the majority of his photographs, which takes away all of the atmosphere and just leaves the story. Which judging by his theories would seem like that was the point.
Shoot 1
Finished Result :
I took this photograph using a professional camera provided by school, which is evident as the picture is so bright and in high definition. For this photograph I took a photograph of my classmate holding an A4 piece of paper. Then I used Photoshop to repeatedly add the same picture on to the A4 piece of paper. Therefore the final piece resulted in a picture of my classmate holding a photograph of himself holding a photograph of himself, etc. I did not use any inspiration from other photographers for this photo shoot as I decided to do a shoot on what repetition means to me.
Shoot 2
Finished Result :
In this shoot, I again used inspiration from Peter De Lory to create a collage out of several photographs I took on the beach of my girlfriend drawing in the sand. I used Photoshop to give all of the photographs the same filter and rotated them so that they were all facing the same way. I then fitted them in to a collage. Like the first shoot, the photographs were all different sizes due to them being taken on an IPhone 5S camera at different angles, meaning it was fairly difficult to fit them on to the same grid without changing the size of the photographs. If I were to re-do this shoot I would use a professional camera so that this would not have been a problem. I used the black and white filters for the photograph's because I feel like the colours distracted the viewer from what the photograph was really about. Also filtering the photographs to all be the same colour makes them fit together a lot better.
Shoot 3
Finished Result :
I based this piece on Peter De Lory's repetition photography, of which he produces collages of many photographs at the same angle and the same filter. I took his ideas of the subject and documented my trip to Blackpool with my girlfriend on valentines day from the moment we woke up until the coach home. I took photographs of us holding hands at the same angle in many different scenario's and places. For example there are pictures of us opening valentines day cards, eating breakfast, lining up for a roller coaster ride in Blackpool pleasure beach, etc. I then used Photoshop to edit all of the pictures on to a black and white filter and place them into a chronologically formed collage. I attempted to edit them all to the same size and shape, as Peter De Lory did, however the photographs were different sizes due to them being taken on an IPhone 53 on different angles. If I were to do this shoot again I would make sure to keep the angle (Landscape or Portrait) the same so that they would fit together a lot smoother.
Final shoot
For my final shoot i will be using a wide range of photographs of family members, friends, etc, and arrange them in the shape of a love heart.
Pre-examination:
In the weeks coming up to the exam, I began to practice with the photographs I was using and the way I was going to arrange them. This gave me a better idea of what I was going to do in the exam and how I would go about it.
Pieces of work produced during the 10 hour period provided:
Final piece
I used this as my final piece because it uses a wide variety of techniques for repetition photography. Firstly, the background used for this picture was set as stripes, to show a repetition of colour, also the colour went well with the main photographs top make them stand out. The photographs I used to create the heart shaped collage, were all to do with love, family and friendship to provide a repetitive theme.
